A Gamification program rewards points to users based on various actions that they perform on the mobile app like app login, stream views, assessment submissions, etc. These points can be used to either gratify the users or recognition for scoring high.

Gamification helps influence user behavior on the mobile app with the help of various rules available to get your app users to perform activities as per your strategy and goal.

Setting up a gamification program

All these steps occur in the same place, one after the other. But for ease of learning, we have broken them down into 3 broad phases:

1. Defining the program

2. Defining user behavior (Rules)

3. Assigning the program & saving

All of these steps are done in one place. Below we will look at each of them in detail:

Phase 1: Defining the program

Step 1: Go to Game Mechanics >>> Manage Program

Step 2: Click on "Create Program"

Step 3: Fill in the program details as follows:

About the Program Information Stream

When you create a Gamification program, you will also end up creating a 'Program Information Stream' to explain that to users.

In the drop-down, you can search for the Stream by name, and add it. It will then become attached to the Leaderboard that users will see on their app, and they will be able to view the information any time they want.

Phase 2: Defining user behaviour (Rules)

Step 4: Add the program Rules by clicking the 'plus' sign. Rules are the life-blood of the program. So it is important to understand them in full detail.

Step 4. a: Each Rule has certain information that needs to be filled:

A. Rule Name & Description

B. Rule Start & End Date

C. Category & Reward details: CLICK HERE FOR FULL DETAILS

D. Points & Badges: CLICK HERE FOR FULL DETAILS

Step 4. b: Add the Rule by clicking on 'Add' (seen in the bottom right corner of the image just above)

All existing Rules will be visible in the Program page. You can add as many Rules as you want by clicking the 'plus' sign.

Step 5: Add the target users by clicking on the 'plus' sign within Assign Teams. In the pop-up that appears, add all key information (country, roles, etc). Then click 'Save'.

Step 6: Save the program by clicking 'Save' at the bottom of the Program screen.

Analyzing Program performance - Leaderboard

Once the program goes live, there needs to be constant monitoring of user performance. You need to have visibility into where each of the users stand, and helps you to take any appropriate steps (if warranted).

Monitoring of user performance is done from the Leaderboard. Each of your existing Gamification programs have their own Leaderboards.

To open one, click on the highlighted icon shown in the image below (2nd icon). Here we are opening the Leaderboard for the program 'Sales Champion'.

This will open the Leaderboard for this program, as shown below.

You will be able to the entire list, with the top 3 highlighted. The Leaderboard also shows you, at a glance...

  • Rank
  • Name
  • Login handle
  • Role (team)
  • Points
  • Badges

...for each user, You will have a bird's eye view of the entire scenario right here.

And that's not all. You can also:

1. Toggle the Leaderboard for any other program (if there are any active).

2. Filter the Leaderboard by Cohort & Reset Interval.
