There are 3 Leaderboard configurations that need to be made:
1. Cohort
2. Reset Interval
3. Tie Breaker
Each of these contributes to how the Leaderboard is experienced by the users, as well as your own Admin view. Some other key Leaderboard dynamics are also set here, all of which are necessary to proceed further.
Now let's look at each of them in detail:
1. Cohort
Here you define the level at which the auto-generated Leaderboard will be displayed for users on the app. You can choose from 4 options:
a. Global
b. Country
c. Country | Role
d. Agency | Role | Agency
Before we begin: Let's clarify some key concepts about user groups, as it becomes vital in fully understanding the Cohort configurations.
Based on the above diagram, lets consider the following:
C: Country level
R1 & R2: Role level
A1, A2...A6: Agency level
User group hierarchy is organized with Roles being assigned to Country. Similarly, Agencies are are can also be assigned directly to Country, but still get grouped within Role.
In this way, there can be multiple Countries, and they get grouped under the Global level.
But that's not all...
Roles under a specific Country can also be linked with other Countries. The same goes for Agencies.
Now lets take a look at the Cohort configurations:
1. a. Global - will include all users from all Countries.
Lets look at how that will look for users & Admins (you). Admins will see the Leaderboard on their PC.
User experience: Leaderboard will comprise users from all Countries, including all Roles & Agencies.
Admin (your) experience: Leaderboard will comprise users from all Countries, including all Roles & Agencies, with the ability to click through on specific users.
1. b. Country - will be at Country-level, and will include all Roles & Agencies within a given Country.
Lets look at how that will look for users & Admins (you). Admins will see the Leaderboard on their PC.
User experience: Leaderboard will include all Roles & Agencies from their Country.
Admin (your) experience: You will be able to see the Leaderboard for all the Countries that are part of the program. As you see in the image below, you can filter for different Countries and toggle their respective Leaderboards.
1. c. Country | Role - will be at Role-level, with different Countries having their own Leaderboards.
Lets look at how that will look for users & Admins (you). Admins will see the Leaderboard on their PC.
User experience: Leaderboard will be at the Role-level i.e. users will only see the Leaderboard for their particular Role, within their Country.
Admin (your) experience: You will be able to see the Role-level Leaderboard for all the Countries that are part of the program.
1. d. Country | Role | Agency - will be at Agency-level, within specific Roles; and different Countries having their own Leaderboards.
Lets look at how that will look for users & Admins (you). Admins will see the Leaderboard on their PC.
User experience: Leaderboard will be at the Agency-level i.e. users will only see the Leaderboard for their particular Agency, within a common Role, and specific to their Country.
Admin (your) experience: You will be able to see the Agency-level Leaderboard for all the Countries that are part of the program.
2. Reset Interval
Here you set the frequency with which the Leaderboard resets on the app. By reset we mean 'goes back to ZERO'. Now let's look at the different configurations:
2. a. One Time:
The Leaderboard is reset just once at the Start Date you select. The Leaderboard will then go on building CUMULATIVELY until the End Dates arrives, whereupon it will expire.
Explanation: Here, the Start Date is set as 10th January 2022. This means that the Leaderboard will go on building without a reset until the End Date 31st March 2022.
2. b. Weekly:
The Leaderboard is reset EVERY WEEK between the Start Date & End Dates you select. That means, every 7 days, the Leaderboard will go back to zero, and the tally will begin afresh.
Explanation: Here, the Start Date is set as 11th January 2022. For the End Date, you will only be able to set one that occurs every 7th day since 11th January. Here, it is set as 28th March 2022.
2. c. Monthly:
The Leaderboard is reset EVERY MONTH between the Start Date & End Months you select. That means, every 30 days, the Leaderboard will go back to zero, and the tally will begin afresh.
Explanation: Here the Start is set as January 2022. From that month on, the Leaderboard will reset on the first of each following month, until March 2022.
2. d. Quarterly:
The Leaderboard is reset EVERY QUARTER between the Start Date & End Quarters you select. That means, every quarter, the Leaderboard will go back to zero, and the tally will begin afresh.
Explanation: Here the Start is Jan-Mar 2022. From that quarter on, the Leaderboard will reset on the first of each following quarter, until Oct-Dec 2022. So the final reset will be triggered on the 1st of October 2022.
2. e. Half-Yearly:
The Leaderboard is reset EVERY 6 MONTHS between the Start Date & End Months you select. That means, every 6 months, the Leaderboard will go back to zero, and the tally will begin afresh.
Explanation: Here the Start is set as January 2022. From this point, the Leaderboard will reset every 6 months, until the End.
For the End, if the year is set as 2023, then there are 2 options -- July & January, in keeping with the 6-month gap.
If, for example you pick July 2023, the Leaderboard will go to zero every 6 months from January 2022, till July 2023.
C. 2. f. Yearly:
The Leaderboard is reset EVERY YEAR between the Start Date & End Months you select. That means, every new year, the Leaderboard will go back to zero, and the tally will begin afresh.
Explanation: Here the Start is set as January2022. From this point, the Leaderboard will reset on the first of each new year.
Whichever End Year you select, your End Month will be one prior to your Start Month -- in this case February 2024.
3. Tie Breaker
Here you set the Tie-Breaker in the case that 2 users are tied on points for 1st place in the Leaderboard.
There are 2 ways the system can decide between them:
3. a. Finishing Time: In this case, the system checks which of the 2 users have taken less time to earn the points. The one that has reached the number quicker is put in 1st place.
3. b. Lucky Draw: This is self-explanatory. The 1st place-taker is chosen at random out of the 2.
