Before embarking on the content creation journey, it is important to understand how content is organized on the platform.

Overview

The diagram above shows how content is organized.

The starting point of any content is a "Stream". A stream, will consist of one or more "Sections". And each section, is a compilation of a number of "Cards".

Let's understand this concept in a little bit more detail.

What are Streams, Sections & Cards?

A "Stream" is a collection of content on our platform, and is created with a logical flow.

Think of a “stream” as the equivalent of a book or a PowerPoint deck.

But unlike a book which is static, a Stream is a dynamic entity which can be updated, evolved and customized over time.

Now books are obviously made up of a number of pages. These pages contain the text and images, which form the content of the book.

On our platform, a "Stream" consists of multiple "Cards". These contain the content of the stream, where each Card is a single mobile screen.

The difference between the pages of a book and our "Cards", is that Cards can use multiple media formats like text, images and video also.

Taking the analogy of a book further, pages would usually be organized into different chapters. Similarly, the "Cards" in a "Stream", will need to get organized into one or more "Sections".

Categorizing Content

If you were to look for a particular book in a library, how would you go about your search?

First, you would need to know the subject of the book. Then you would need to locate the shelf or shelves in the library, where books of that subject are placed. Some subject categories might have multiple sub categories also. And books of the same sub category would usually be grouped together.

Once you reach the right area of the library, it would be fairly simple for you to find the right shelf and locate the book you need.

But what if the books in the library had been placed randomly on shelves, without any system? Would you then be able to locate the book you want that easily?

This is why it's important for a library to make sure that books are placed on the right shelves.

Similarly, it's very important for us as content creators, to make sure that we place our Streams in the right categories. Doing this ensures that our Artificial Intelligence can retrieve the right Streams when it needs to.

Just like a library has different categories of books, our platform also has different categories of content. When you create a new stream, you need to make sure you assign it to the correct category.

These content categories and sub categories are created by us based on the needs of each enterprise client.
